York-A York County-Poquoson Circuit Court grand jury handed down felony indictments this week in cases that included allegations of drug possession on school property with intent to distribute, attempted murder and rape.
Kevin W. Clark, an 18-year-old senior at Bruton High School, was indicted on two felony marijuana distribution charges — possession with intent to distribute more than four ounces of marijuana and also a schedule IV drug, in this case 25 tablets of an anti-anxiety prescription medication.
Clark, of the 600 block of Schooner Boulevard, and another Bruton student were arrested the evening of March 11 in the parking lot of Magruder Elementary School.
Christopher Andrew Furick was indicted on several felony charges related to an accusation that he shot a gun at his wife and young son last November.
Furick, 31, of the 1100 block of Wilkins Drive in upper York County, is accused of firing a handgun at his wife during an argument while she held the couple’s 2-year-old son, said Sgt. Dennis Ivey, Jr., a York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office investigator.
Furick was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, malicious discharge of a firearm within an occupied building, child neglect and assault and battery of a family member, Ivey said. Because Furick was convicted of domestic assault twice within the previous 20 years, that elevated the assault charge from a misdemeanor, Ivey said.
Ralph Bryan Sykes, whose age was unavailable Wednesday, was indicted on felony rape and abduction charges.
The charges stem from an accusation, by a woman who is known to Sykes, that he forced himself on her sometime between Dec. 16 and Dec. 21, Ivey said.
In online court records, Sykes is listed as residing on Langley Air Force Base. A Langley spokesman confirmed Sykes is in the air force.
